FALCUTY/STAFF LUNCH
On October 4 & 11, 2006 the program will be The Presbyterian General Assembly: More Than Met the Press. Often what one reads in the newspaper is different than what one hears from someone who was there. George Rolling and Tom Burleson were both at last summer's Presbyterian General Assembly. Therefore, for the next two weeks we will discuss with them some issues which came before that General Assembly.
On October 18 the program will be Our Cuban Neighbors with Valerie Schneider (member at FPC, Johnson City) who recently visited Cuba and will talk about the relationship between the people of that country and our own..
our program is titled Why Churches Fight. Shortly after Pentecost the church began to fight, and we (not just Presbyterians) are still at it. The better we understand the history and the reasons for conflict, the easier it will be to find other ways to live together as Christians. Don Muncie, pastor at First Presbyterian in Johnson City, will lead us in this discussion.
BOOKS FOR CAMEROON
Presbyterian Campus Ministry has been working with Cameroonian students at ETSU to collect text books and raise funds to purchase and ship books and study aids to their colleges in Africa. At this time 560 lbs of books have been collected, plus all the money we need to ship them to Cameroon. Many thanks to all those churches and individuals who helped with this project.
